The 66th traditional Romería-Ofrenda del Pino, probably the most important pilgrimage offering on the island. Teror, the beautiful historic mountain town to the north, presents this religious celebration every year on Gran Canaria, for the revered image of the patron of the town and the island of Gran Canaria, representing the diocese of The Canary Islands.
A romería is a religious pilgrimage and originally the word was derivated from the word “Rome”. Nowadays we understand romería (pilgrimage) mostly as a short trip of peregrination that finishes at a church, hermitage or sanctuary followed by festive celebrations.
Locals singing and dancing in traditional costumes, and something delicious to eat and drink cannot be missing, of course.
